If Jesus had an Instagram it would not be set to private. Instead it would say Jesus with the Follow button below so anyone who repents of their sin and asks Jesus into their hearts can follow Him.
As Christians we tend to put Christ in the same bubble we put ourselves in. We don’t reach out to those outside of our friend circles. We keep ourselves in tight knit churches and tight knit social groups. We have our core friends and then we set our lives to private. We don’t venture out to meet someone new. We may even wonder why someone ‘new’ friend requests us or starts a conversation with us outside of what is routine for our lives.
I understand that our social circles have all been limited recently and there is no way we could be friends with everyone but my question for you today is:
Do you limit Jesus like you limit your friend circles and Instagram accounts?
Do you think because you are in… because you are saved… that you do not need to look outside your private account anymore? Do you bank on the fact that you have salvation in Jesus and Christian friends and assume the bases are covered in your life?
If you limit your life this way it also limits the way in which Jesus wants to use you.
God wants you to rely on Him, to praise Him to revel in his power and might… He is there for you, comforting you and giving you strength. But he also wants you to use your gifts and bear fruit for Him. According to a 2020 survey there are about 2.3 billion Christians in the world. We may say that is awesome! I would agree that is certainly a large number….however, that means 5.49 billion people are practicing another religion or have no religion at all and they are waiting to hear the good news.
We don’t know who is outside our circle looking at us and wondering if we will share His ‘Instagram page’, his good news, the Bible, with them so they can also benefit from His blessings.
We limit Christ when we make assumptions about who we think can be saved. You might be thinking I dont do that…. ????? But let me ask have you ever thought in your head that person doesn’t want to hear about God- they know I go to church and have never asked questions, that person lives a lifestyle contrary to what the Bible teaches, that person sleeps around, that person drinks too much, that person is addicted to drugs, that person is liberal, that person supports abortion…. Friend STOP this. Jesus has not limited those who can repent of their sins and come to Him. So why are you limiting Him?
We all have fallen short of the glory of God and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Romans 3:23-24 Notice the word all, all of us, all who would believe and follow. And God said For I loved the world that I sent my son that whoever believes in Me will have eternal life. John 3:16 He did not say we get to determine who we think should be in the world of Christ. He says Go forth and share. Tell others. Be ambassadors for Christ. Share. Love. Let your light shine before men.
The blood of Jesus was shed for the forgiveness of sins. Every sin separates us from God. Let he or she that is without sin cast the first stone at the person
we judge before loving. The person we determined doesnt need to hear or doesn’t want to hear. We all need Jesus. We know some people will refuse to believe but His ‘Instagram account’ is still be set to public. His salvation is public. So your sharing with others should also be public and bold. Stop hiding with those who are like minded and instead be bold enough to share the love of Christ with someone you directly disagree with. Share with someone outside your circle. The angels in heaven rejoice over one sinner who comes to Christ and perfect love casts out fear. We are able to love others because Jesus first loved us. And the most loving thing you can do today is share the love of God with someone in your life.
The Lord bless you and Keep you,
Kara
